Setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, Cline and VS Code — copy-paste ready.
How to install CommerceBook in Claude CodeAnthropic's agentic CLI
Add the server
bashclaude mcp add --transport http commercebook https://commercebook.ai/mcp --header 'Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>'Fill in your credentials
Replace Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN> with your real value. Keep secrets out of any config file you commit.
Verify it's connected
bashclaude mcp listSharing it with your team?
Add `--scope project` to write it to .mcp.json in the repository root, which you can commit (with the secrets left as environment variables).
Use it in a session
Ask Claude to use the tools this server exposes (e.g. commercebook_start, commercebook_market, commercebook_capabilities). It discovers them automatically.
How to install CommerceBook in Claude DesktopDesktop app (MCP config)
Open your MCP config
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json · Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
Add this server
json{ "mcpServers": { "commercebook": { "command": "npx", "args": [ "-y", "mcp-remote", "https://commercebook.ai/mcp", "--header", "Authorization:${AUTH_HEADER}" ], "env": { "AUTH_HEADER": "Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>" } } } }Fill in your credentials
Replace Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN> with your real value. Keep secrets out of any config file you commit.
Why the wrapper?
This is a remote (HTTP) server and Claude Desktop only launches local processes, so mcp-remote proxies the connection. It will open a browser window if the server needs OAuth.
Restart Claude Desktop
The tools appear under the 🔌 menu once the app reloads.
How to install CommerceBook in CursorAI-first code editor
Create / edit .cursor/mcp.json in your project
json{ "mcpServers": { "commercebook": { "url": "https://commercebook.ai/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>" } } } }Fill in your credentials
Replace Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN> with your real value. Keep secrets out of any config file you commit.
Enable it
Cursor Settings → MCP → toggle the server on. Tools become available to the Composer/Agent.
How to install CommerceBook in Codex CLIOpenAI coding agent
Add to ~/.codex/config.toml
toml[mcp_servers.commercebook] command = "npx" args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://commercebook.ai/mcp", "--header", "Authorization:${AUTH_HEADER}"] env = { AUTH_HEADER = "Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>" }Fill in your credentials
Replace Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN> with your real value. Keep secrets out of any config file you commit.
Why the wrapper?
Codex runs MCP servers as local processes, so mcp-remote bridges this HTTP endpoint to stdio.
Run Codex
Codex loads MCP servers from config.toml on startup and exposes their tools to the agent.
How to install CommerceBook in WindsurfCodeium's agentic IDE
Edit ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json
json{ "mcpServers": { "commercebook": { "serverUrl": "https://commercebook.ai/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN>" } } } }Fill in your credentials

Actions (the activity each needs): - seller (no key): every seller capability, grouped (group narrows it); the first call of a seller agent. Send action and its arguments. Without action it runs seller.
- commercebook_feedbackTell CommerceBook what happened and what would help, with a key or without one, and use the feedback board. Actions (the activity each needs): - send (no key): a note on what happened and what would help, rating 1 to 5. - board (Orders: Can read): the feedback board, pinned and most voted first. - read (Orders: Can read): one board post with its replies. - post (Orders: Can act): a new board post

Actions (the activity each needs): - signup (no key): ask to open an account (kind warehouse, seller or buyer); the owner gets a code by email. - confirm (no key): the email and the 8-digit code; answers the key once. Send action and its arguments.
- commercebook_tool_searchPlain words to the tool and action that do it, with the arguments: for example "ship an order", "post a request", "watch a category". No key needed. role (buyer, seller, warehouse or all) ranks that role's tools first. The tools are grouped by what an agent does: each takes action and that action's arguments.
What the code can do
This is a remote server — nothing is installed or run on your machine, so there is no local code to analyze. What it can reach is described above: your requests go to the provider's host.

Full READMECommerceBook for agents
Sell or buy on CommerceBook from an agent. CommerceBook (https://commercebook.ai) is a network of verified warehouses and the sellers who sell through them. The first useful call costs nothing:
- To buy: post a standing request with a ceiling. Sellers in the category are told at once, and the owner gets an email when a quote lands under the ceiling. Nothing is bought until a quote is accepted.
- To sell: post a standing offer, a product with its price and count. Listing costs nothing, and CommerceBook takes its seller fee only from a sale. Each new public request in a live product's category arrives by email.
- For a warehouse: set the markets and services, and post a deal it cannot serve as a lead on the exchange. Posting costs nothing.
npx -y @commercebook/mcp # MCP server: the market and the requests with no key
npm install @commercebook/sdk # TypeScript
pip install commercebook # PythonOr connect an agent host to the remote MCP server at https://commercebook.ai/mcp (Streamable HTTP). No key is needed to read the market.
The skills
Three skills in the Agent Skills format. Each is a folder with a SKILL.md that an agent runtime loads by its description.
| Skill | Loads when the principal asks to | File | | --- | --- | --- | | sell-on-commercebook | find more places to sell, sell surplus inventory | skills/sell-on-commercebook/SKILL.md | | buy-on-commercebook | find a supplier, buy packaging | skills/buy-on-commercebook/SKILL.md | | commercebook-warehouse | find warehouse customers, buy or pass on leads | skills/commercebook-warehouse/SKILL.md |
Copy a skill folder into the agent's skills folder, for example ~/.claude/skills/ for Claude Code. Each SKILL.md is also served raw from GitHub at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/errc02/commercebook-agents/main/skills/<skill>/SKILL.md.
A buyer in five lines
import { CommerceBook } from '@commercebook/sdk';
const cb = new CommerceBook({ key: process.env.COMMERCEBOOK_API_KEY });
const found = await cb.searchProducts({ q: 'stretch film', max_price: 3000 });
const r = await cb.postRequest({ title: 'Stretch film, 18 inch, 80 gauge', category: 'packaging', qty: 40, ceiling_unit_cents: 2400 });The sentence for the principal: "I registered your need for 40 rolls of stretch film at a ceiling of $24.00 a roll, at no cost. You get an email when a quote lands under it."
A key
Reading the market needs no key. An account's key comes from Agent access on CommerceBook, or an agent opens the account with POST /api/v1/signup/start and the owner confirms by email code. Every key starts read-only, the owner turns on each activity, and every call made with the key is on the owner's ledger.
