How to install sniptide in Claude CodeAnthropic's agentic CLI

  1. Add the server

    bash
    claude mcp add sniptide -e 'SNIPTIDE_TOKEN=<SNIPTIDE_TOKEN>' -- npx -y @sniptide/mcp
  2. Fill in your credentials

Replace <SNIPTIDE_TOKEN>, Bearer <YOUR_TOKEN> with your real values. Keep secrets out of any config file you commit.

  3. Verify it's connected

    bash
    claude mcp list
  4. Sharing it with your team?

Add `--scope project` to write it to .mcp.json in the repository root, which you can commit (with the secrets left as environment variables).

  5. Use it in a session

Ask Claude to use the tools this server exposes. It discovers them automatically.

What tools does sniptide expose?

This server runs as a local package. We only query remote servers for their tool list — asking this one would mean executing it, so its tools are listed in the documentation below.

What the code can do

Read from the published package source — never executed. Parsed 1 of 1 source file.

This server can make network requests and read your environment variables.

How it was published

  • Published by a verified CI identity (github trusted publishing) rather than a personal token.
  • Has a provenance attestation tying this artifact to the commit it was built from.
  • 1 npm maintainer — a single point of compromise · last published by GitHub Actions.

Before you install

Signals gathered from the source repo and package registry — not a safety verdict.

What it can reach

  • Runs code on your machine — Executes as a local process with your user's permissions, including filesystem access.
  • Downloads at launch — The package is fetched from its registry each run unless you pin a version.
  • Last commit today — Actively maintained.
  • Repository created 1 month ago — Very new project with little track record yet.
  • 6 GitHub stars — Very little community usage so far.

Sniptide

A self-hostable pastebin for code snippets, configs, and secrets. Share multi-file pastes with passwords, expiry, or burn-after-read links. Organize reusable snippets in collections, sync .env files, and connect coding agents through the CLI or MCP server.

Self-host

Run Sniptide and Postgres with Docker Compose:

bash
git clone https://github.com/Dino-Kupinic/sniptide.git
cd sniptide
printf 'BETTER_AUTH_SECRET=%s\nBETTER_AUTH_URL=http://localhost:3000\n' "$(openssl rand -hex 32)" > .env
docker compose up -d

Open localhost:3000 and create an account. Use your public HTTPS URL for BETTER_AUTH_URL when deploying to a server. See the self-hosting guide for HTTPS, configuration, backups, and upgrades.

The official Docker image supports AMD64 and ARM64 at ghcr.io/dino-kupinic/sniptide.

Connect a coding agent

Add the MCP server to Claude Code, which signs you in to Sniptide in the browser through OAuth:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http sniptide https://app.sniptide.com/api/mcp

For a client without OAuth, create a token in Settings, API tokens, and pass it with --header "Authorization: Bearer $SNIPTIDE_TOKEN".

Use <your-instance-url>/api/mcp on a self-hosted instance. The MCP guide covers Cursor and a local server, and the CLI installs a collection as an agent skill. This repository is also an Agent Plugin: plugin.json bundles the MCP servers in mcp.json with the skills in skills/.
