## Install

### How to install Car Rental Brain in Claude Code

1. Add the server

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http car-rental-brain https://app.carrentalbrain.com/mcp
```

2. Verify it's connected

```bash
claude mcp list
```

3. Sharing it with your team?

   Add `--scope project` to write it to .mcp.json in the repository root, which you can commit (with the secrets left as environment variables).

4. Use it in a session

   Ask Claude to use the tools this server exposes (e.g. get_capabilities, list_airports, airport_costs). It discovers them automatically.

### How to install Car Rental Brain in Claude Desktop

1. Open your MCP config

   macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json · Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this server

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "car-rental-brain": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://app.carrentalbrain.com/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

3. Why the wrapper?

   This is a remote (HTTP) server and Claude Desktop only launches local processes, so mcp-remote proxies the connection. It will open a browser window if the server needs OAuth.

4. Restart Claude Desktop

   The tools appear under the 🔌 menu once the app reloads.

### How to install Car Rental Brain in Cursor

1. Create / edit .cursor/mcp.json in your project

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "car-rental-brain": {
      "url": "https://app.carrentalbrain.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Enable it

   Cursor Settings → MCP → toggle the server on. Tools become available to the Composer/Agent.

### How to install Car Rental Brain in Codex CLI

1. Add to ~/.codex/config.toml

```toml
[mcp_servers.car-rental-brain]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://app.carrentalbrain.com/mcp"]
```

2. Why the wrapper?

   Codex runs MCP servers as local processes, so mcp-remote bridges this HTTP endpoint to stdio.

3. Run Codex

   Codex loads MCP servers from config.toml on startup and exposes their tools to the agent.

    }
  }
}
```
2. Start it
   VS Code shows a ▶ Start action above the server entry. Agent mode (Copilot Chat) can then use the tools.
## Tools
- `get_capabilities` — What Car Rental Brain measures, how fresh it is, and which airports/countries are covered. Use first when unsure whether a place is covered.
- `list_airports` — Airports we measure, with the typical rental price per day. Filter by country. Use to find an airport id or to list what is covered in a country.
- `airport_costs` — The true cost of hiring a car at one airport: per-day price for the car alone, with a second driver, with full cover, automatic, no-deposit (from + typical); by pick-up month; second-driver fees; deposits; debit-card acceptance; desk closing times and out-of-hours fees; policies. Use when someone asks what car hire really costs at one airport, or about deposits, fees or desk hours there.
- `compare_airports` — Rank airports by real cost (car only / with driver / with cover), typical deposit, debit-card friendliness or late desk hours. Use for 'where in Spain is car hire cheapest in March?' or 'which airport is best for a debit card?'
- `supplier_terms` — Per supplier at an airport: typical price per day, second-driver fee, full-cover price, deposit held, whether the desk takes a debit card, and customers' desk review scores. Use when the person is choosing between suppliers at one airport or asks about a named supplier.
- `build_search_link` — A link for the PERSON to open: live prices for their exact dates and needs, ranked by the total they will actually pay, where they can book. Use whenever the person has dates and wants to see or book cars.
