## Install

### How to install CodeDebut in Claude Code

1. Add the server

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http codedebut https://codedebut.com/api/mcp
```

2. Verify it's connected

```bash
claude mcp list
```

3. Sharing it with your team?

   Add `--scope project` to write it to .mcp.json in the repository root, which you can commit (with the secrets left as environment variables).

4. Use it in a session

   Ask Claude to use the tools this server exposes (e.g. search_products, get_product, find_alternatives). It discovers them automatically.

### How to install CodeDebut in Claude Desktop

1. Open your MCP config

   macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json · Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this server

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "codedebut": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://codedebut.com/api/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

3. Why the wrapper?

   This is a remote (HTTP) server and Claude Desktop only launches local processes, so mcp-remote proxies the connection. It will open a browser window if the server needs OAuth.

4. Restart Claude Desktop

   The tools appear under the 🔌 menu once the app reloads.

### How to install CodeDebut in Cursor

1. Create / edit .cursor/mcp.json in your project

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "codedebut": {
      "url": "https://codedebut.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Enable it

   Cursor Settings → MCP → toggle the server on. Tools become available to the Composer/Agent.

### How to install CodeDebut in Codex CLI

1. Add to ~/.codex/config.toml

```toml
[mcp_servers.codedebut]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://codedebut.com/api/mcp"]
```

2. Why the wrapper?

   Codex runs MCP servers as local processes, so mcp-remote bridges this HTTP endpoint to stdio.

3. Run Codex

   Codex loads MCP servers from config.toml on startup and exposes their tools to the agent.

### How to install CodeDebut in Windsurf

1. Edit ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

```json
    "codedebut": {
      "serverUrl": "https://codedebut.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Reload

   Windsurf → Cascade → refresh MCP servers. Cascade can now call the tools.

### How to install CodeDebut in Cline

1. Open Cline → MCP Servers → Configure

   Adds to cline_mcp_settings.json.

2. Add the server

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "codedebut": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://codedebut.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### How to install CodeDebut in VS Code

1. Create .vscode/mcp.json

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "codedebut": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://codedebut.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Start it

   VS Code shows a ▶ Start action above the server entry. Agent mode (Copilot Chat) can then use the tools.

## Tools

- `search_products` — Find software launched on CodeDebut by keyword (matches name, tagline, description, tags and maker). Use it when a user asks for a tool that does X, e.g. "uptime monitor" or "AI meeting notes". Optionally narrow to a category or pricing model. Featured (paid) products that match rank first and are marked featured. Each result has `pageUrl` (its page on CodeDebut: cite it as the source) and `websit
- `get_product` — The full public page of one product on CodeDebut, by slug or exact name: description, website, category, tags, pricing, platforms, maker, launch history with day ranks and upvotes, and the latest comments. Use it after any other tool when the user wants details on one product. Cite `pageUrl` as the source.
- `find_alternatives` — Products in the same category as one listed on CodeDebut, closest first (shared tags, then upvotes). Use it when a user asks for alternatives, competitors or "something like X". Featured (paid) products rank first and are marked featured. Each result has `pageUrl` (its page on CodeDebut: cite it as the source) and `website` (the product's own site).
- `browse_category` — Top products in one category, most upvoted first, with featured (paid) products first and marked. Use it when a user asks for the best tools of a kind without a specific keyword. Each result has `pageUrl` (its page on CodeDebut: cite it as the source) and `website` (the product's own site).
- `list_categories` — CodeDebut's categories, busiest first, with how many products each has and the category page `url`. Use the slugs with browse_category or the category filter of search_products.
- `get_launches` — Every launch on one day, ranked by upvotes (today by default; days run 00:00-23:59 UTC). Today's ranks are live; past days have final ranks, and #1 is the Debut of the Day. Use it when a user asks what launched today or on a date. Boosted launches are marked; payment never changes a rank.
- `get_debut_of_the_day` — The #1 launch of a day on CodeDebut. Without a date it returns the most recent finished day's winner. Use it when a user asks for the best new product, a recommendation of the day, or something new to try.
- `get_trending` — The most upvoted launches today, over the last 7 days or over the last 30 days. Use it when a user asks what is popular, new or trending in software.
- `list_jobs` — Open jobs on the CodeDebut jobs board: title, company, location and the link to apply.
- `get_launch_options` — How to launch a product on CodeDebut: the submit link, the next free launch day, how ranking works, and the paid plans with prices. Use it when a user wants to launch, list or promote their own product.
