## Install

### How to install agmail in Claude Code

1. Add the server

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http agmail https://agmail.shveik.dev/mcp
```

2. Verify it's connected

```bash
claude mcp list
```

3. Sharing it with your team?

   Add `--scope project` to write it to .mcp.json in the repository root, which you can commit (with the secrets left as environment variables).

4. Use it in a session

   Ask Claude to use the tools this server exposes (e.g. check_name, create_inbox, extend_inbox). It discovers them automatically.

### How to install agmail in Claude Desktop

1. Open your MCP config

   macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json · Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this server

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "agmail": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://agmail.shveik.dev/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

3. Why the wrapper?

   This is a remote (HTTP) server and Claude Desktop only launches local processes, so mcp-remote proxies the connection. It will open a browser window if the server needs OAuth.

4. Restart Claude Desktop

   The tools appear under the 🔌 menu once the app reloads.

### How to install agmail in Cursor

1. Create / edit .cursor/mcp.json in your project

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "agmail": {
      "url": "https://agmail.shveik.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Enable it

   Cursor Settings → MCP → toggle the server on. Tools become available to the Composer/Agent.

### How to install agmail in Codex CLI

1. Add to ~/.codex/config.toml

```toml
[mcp_servers.agmail]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://agmail.shveik.dev/mcp"]
```

2. Why the wrapper?

   Codex runs MCP servers as local processes, so mcp-remote bridges this HTTP endpoint to stdio.

3. Run Codex

   Codex loads MCP servers from config.toml on startup and exposes their tools to the agent.

### How to install agmail in Windsurf

1. Edit ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "agmail": {
      "serverUrl": "https://agmail.shveik.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Reload

   Windsurf → Cascade → refresh MCP servers. Cascade can now call the tools.

### How to install agmail in Cline

1. Open Cline → MCP Servers → Configure

   Adds to cline_mcp_settings.json.

2. Add the server

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "agmail": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://agmail.shveik.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### How to install agmail in VS Code

1. Create .vscode/mcp.json

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "agmail": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://agmail.shveik.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Start it

   VS Code shows a ▶ Start action above the server entry. Agent mode (Copilot Chat) can then use the tools.

## Tools

- `check_name` — Check whether a name is free to use as the local part of an address, before buying an inbox. Free.
- `create_inbox` — Buy an email address for an hour, four hours or a day: name@agmail.shveik.dev with the name you choose (or a random one). Paid in stablecoins with x402: call it without a payment to get the quote, then again with the signed payment in _meta. The result has the inbox id and the secret (shown once, keep it); the inbox takes mail once the payment has settled.
- `extend_inbox` — Extend an inbox you own by one, four or twenty-four hours, keeping its address and its mail. Paid in stablecoins with x402 like create_inbox. Needs the inbox id and its secret. An inbox cannot be paid for more than 72 hours ahead.
- `wait_for_message` — Wait until a message arrives in an inbox (up to 55 seconds) and return it with its text, codes and links. Returns at once if a matching message is already there. Free; needs the inbox id and secret.
- `get_otp` — Wait for a message that carries a verification code or link and return only the code and the link. Free; needs the inbox id and secret.
- `list_messages` — List the messages of an inbox (sender, subject, size) after a sequence number. Free; needs the inbox id and secret.
- `read_message` — Read one message of an inbox: its text, codes, links and attachment names. Free; needs the inbox id and secret.
- `delete_inbox` — Delete an inbox and all its mail now. There is no refund. Free; needs the inbox id and secret.
- `feedback` — Free. Tell the people who run this service what worked, what failed or what you miss: a bug, an idea or a thanks. A person reads it. No payment, no account; limited to a few messages an hour.
