## Install

### How to install GitHub Hot Board in Claude Code

1. Add the server

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http github-hot-board https://git.vaiox.xyz/api/mcp
```

2. Verify it's connected

```bash
claude mcp list
```

3. Sharing it with your team?

   Add `--scope project` to write it to .mcp.json in the repository root, which you can commit (with the secrets left as environment variables).

4. Use it in a session

   Ask Claude to use the tools this server exposes (e.g. list_boards, get_board, get_board_movers). It discovers them automatically.

### How to install GitHub Hot Board in Claude Desktop

1. Open your MCP config

   macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json · Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

2. Add this server

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "github-hot-board": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://git.vaiox.xyz/api/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

3. Why the wrapper?

   This is a remote (HTTP) server and Claude Desktop only launches local processes, so mcp-remote proxies the connection. It will open a browser window if the server needs OAuth.

4. Restart Claude Desktop

   The tools appear under the 🔌 menu once the app reloads.

### How to install GitHub Hot Board in Cursor

1. Create / edit .cursor/mcp.json in your project

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "github-hot-board": {
      "url": "https://git.vaiox.xyz/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Enable it

   Cursor Settings → MCP → toggle the server on. Tools become available to the Composer/Agent.

### How to install GitHub Hot Board in Codex CLI

1. Add to ~/.codex/config.toml

```toml
[mcp_servers.github-hot-board]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://git.vaiox.xyz/api/mcp"]
```

2. Why the wrapper?

   Codex runs MCP servers as local processes, so mcp-remote bridges this HTTP endpoint to stdio.

3. Run Codex

   Codex loads MCP servers from config.toml on startup and exposes their tools to the agent.

### How to install GitHub Hot Board in Windsurf

1. Edit ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "github-hot-board": {
      "serverUrl": "https://git.vaiox.xyz/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

2. Reload

   Windsurf → Cascade → refresh MCP servers. Cascade can now call the tools.

### How to install GitHub Hot Board in Cline

  "mcpServers": {
    "github-hot-board": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://git.vaiox.xyz/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```
### How to install GitHub Hot Board in VS Code
1. Create .vscode/mcp.json
```json
{
  "servers": {
    "github-hot-board": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://git.vaiox.xyz/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```
2. Start it
   VS Code shows a ▶ Start action above the server entry. Agent mode (Copilot Chat) can then use the tools.
## Tools
- `list_boards` — The 10 leaderboards on GitHub Hot Board: what each ranks, its canonical page URL and its JSON API endpoint.
- `get_board` — Top-N rows of one leaderboard (rank, stars, forks, issues, language, description). Refreshes every ~6 hours; generatedAt is the batch stamp (fetch once per sync cycle).
- `get_board_movers` — Repositories that genuinely moved rank on a board within the last 24 hours, from our own snapshot series (the same data as the on-site movers strip). Positive climb = went up.
- `get_repo` — Library record for one repository: stars, forks, description in up to 16 UI languages (keys are locale codes), current overall-board rank if listed, pushedAt, and asOf freshness stamps. Served from our own dataset (no live GitHub API call); repos outside the library return not-in-library.
- `search_library` — Search repositories tracked by this site, by owner/name (exact wins) or by keyword over descriptions (16 languages). Library-only: repos never listed on a board are not here. No live GitHub calls.
- `get_repo_history` — Time series of one repository on one board (default overall): rank + star points at our sync cadence (~6h) from our own snapshot series — denser than the daily archives others publish. Empty result means the repo was not tracked in the window.
